Richard Mesler, 84, passed away on May 19, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Bricktown NJ. He was born on July 17, 1932 in Glen Ridge NJ to Frank & Marie Peters Mesler.

Richard attended Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls NJ.  He joined the United States Navy in 1950 and served for 3 years in the Korean War on the USS Brownson DD868. He was discharged in 1953.

Richard and Marilyn Loretta Murray married in July of 1953.  They moved to New Jersey and settled in Totowa where he was employed at the N. J. School for Girls as Head Grounds Keeper. He later went back to the sea for employment with Exxon Mobil and then US Military Sea Lift. They moved their family to Point Pleasant Borough NJ and then for their retirement years they settled in Lakewood, NJ.

Richard was an active member of the Point Pleasant Beach First Aid squad for seven years.  He also enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and spending time with his wife and family.

Richard is survived by his spouse Marilyn L. Mesler of Lakewood NJ; their daughters Sandra Oravets, Debbie Blennerhassett, Linda Carlson, & their son Richard John Mesler. Richard and Marilyn have 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery 350 Provinceline Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562 on May 25th 2017 at 2:30 pm at the Veteran’s Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to The Veterans Wounded Warrior, The St. Jude Hospital for Children or The Diabetes Foundation.
