Margaret  M. Brennan, 82 of Manahawkin, NJ

Native Staten Islander Margaret “Marge ” Brennan was born to J. Walter and Lillian Thompson in Port Richmond. Transitioning from homemaker to career woman, Marge eventually retired as an officer of an international bank,  an example not lost on her children and grandchildren, as she balanced life between family, career and volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

Through the years Marge enjoyed Girls Weekends and Girls Night Out with her sister Sally Ann and cousin Mary; now a Brennan Girl tradition.

Marge possessed a wide circle of friends from her hometowns of Staten Island and Venice FL. She was a devout parishioner of St. Rita Church on Staten Island, St. Mary’s in Manahawkin, NJ and Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, FL.

Her grandchildren were a large part of her life. They adored her and she them and she will be dearly missed.

An avid reader, and always politically astute, intelligent conversation and deep discussions were par for the course. Marge also enjoyed completing all types of word games and crossword puzzles. Her home was the gathering place where family and friends would likely gravitate and they were welcomed with love, laughter and always,  cookies.

She is predeceased by her parents, her brother John (Jack) Thompson, her best friend and cousin Mary Romanelli and her grandson Danny Brennan.

Surviving is her loving and dedicated husband  and friend of 62 years, George; her sister Sally Ann Paul (William); daughters Ellen Brennan Hearn (Phil); Jill Cook (Fred); Margaret “Meg” Brennan (George  Maneates); and sons George, Terrence (Bridget) and Daniel; 12 adoring grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, cousins Barbara McNally and Phyllis Campbell and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Margaret’s life will be celebrated with a funeral Mass 10:15 Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Manahawkin. Friends and family will be received immediately following at the Holiday Inn Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) , Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) and The American Cancer Society.
