Obituary of Philip J Baecker

Philip J. Baecker, age 86, from Toms River, NJ passed on September 28, 2017 at Hampton Ridge Healthcare in Toms River, NJ after a 7 year courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

 

Born May 26, 1931, to Ellen and Police Lt Conrad Baecker in Weehawken, NJ. graduate of Weehawkin HS in 1948 and Fairleigh Dickenson University in 1960.  He also served in US Navy in Norfolk 1953-1955, Legal Office.  After many positions at Chase Manhattan Bank, Marsh & McLennan, he was promoted to Corporate Director of Insurance for PepsiCo, in Purchase, NY for 25 years and retired in 1991.

 

He married his devoted wife Catherine S. Kruse of 64 years, at the Church of the Good Shephard, Weehawken, NJ on October 3, 1953.  They raised their family in Hackensack, Emerson, Ocean Beach III, Manchester VT and retired at Greenbriar Woodlands in Toms River, NJ.

 

He will be dearly remembered for his humor, boundless generosity, sharp wit, enjoying games and activities at Greenbriar with many treasured friends.  He and his wife Kay, enjoyed limitless travel excursions, especially after retirement.  There was never a trip they didn’t like, including some enjoyed with family.

 

Surviving is his son, Philip C. and wife Sandi of Toms River, NJ and cherished “Pop” to his 4 grandsons, Brian Baecker (and wife Erin), and Michael, Ryan and Christopher Murphy.  He is predeceased by his parents and beloved daughter Valerie Murphy.

 

There was a private cremation and the funeral service with be at his final resting place at Bell Towers at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ
