Obituary of Virginia Dominguez
Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia “Gin” Dominguez (nee Coleman) peacefully became an angel on January 28th, 2025 after a courageous battle against colon cancer. Virginia was greeted in Heaven by her parents (George & Margaret Coleman), her brother (George Coleman), her nephews (James and George Andrew), as well as many other family members, friends, and pets. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard “Minguez” Dominguez, as well as her sister & best friend Margaret Coleman, sister Maryann Klenke (Art), brother Rich Coleman (Sandy), sister in law Carol Coleman, and dog Annie. Virginia also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews who she loved dearly.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Virginia relocated to the Jersey Shore where she fulfilled her love for being near the ocean. While she moved south, she never forgot where she came from and was a devoted fan of her New York Yankees. Virginia attended Lehman College and obtained a degree in Political Science prior to attending Ocean County College and ultimately becoming a licensed CPA. Although she spent many years working in banking and accounting, Virginia had a love & eye for flowers which many thought was her true calling in life.
Virginia was a die hard Air Supply fan for over 48 years and attended concerts whenever possible, regardless of location, often with her husband and friends by her side. Virginia shared a passion of shopping & thrifting with her sisters and took any chance she could to make a memory doing the things she loved with the people she loved. Virginia possessed a heart so big that it often was demonstrated in going above and beyond for anyone she came in contact with, especially her family. Virginia was a family person to the very end, being sure everyone knew how loved & appreciated they were. Virginia loved celebrating the special events, accomplishments, and milestones - from graduations and weddings to sporting events and birthdays, she never missed an opportunity to share how proud she was of her family.
Virginia was a full blooded Irish Catholic whose fierceness shined bright in her brave fight with cancer up to her last breath. Although Virginia’s earthly life was cut short, her legacy will continue to live on for lifetimes to come as she enters into eternal life in Heaven. Virginia will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Virginia was a generous woman who would go above and beyond to help any person or animal in need. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Virginia’s name to Popcorn Park Zoo or any homeless center of your choice.
Virginia’s cremation will be private. A memorial service will be held at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, All Saints Chapel (Schoolhouse Rd in Whiting, NJ) on March 1st, 2025, at 10:45am. Interment immediately following in The Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
