Ronald Paul Runyon, 89, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away suddenly on March 23, 2025. Ronald was born on September 23, 1935 in Neptune, NJ to the late Frederick and Henrietta (Woolley) Runyon. Ron is also preceded in death by his sister Gay Lynn (Runyon) Johnson. After graduating from Toms River High School in 1954, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves. Following service, he went to work for Clayton Brothers Automotive Service, Lakewood. He then worked for Johnson Brothers Boatworks, Point Pleasant, and finally retiring in 1999 from NJ Department of Transportation in Wall Township. In June 1959, he married his childhood friend Nancy Jane (Young) Runyon, who predeceased him in 2018. They built their first home in Brick, NJ where they raised their two daughters before settling in Point Pleasant, NJ. Upon retiring, they moved to Manahawkin, NJ. Ronald is survived by his daughter Mary Ellen Powner and son-in-Law Michael and daughter Kerry Lynn McNickle, of Manahawkin. Also surviving are grandsons Reilly Paul McNickle, Griffin Rogers McNickle and Trevor John McNickle all of Manahawkin and former son-in-law, Fred McNickle. Ronald was an avid gardener, hobby mechanic and jack of all trades. He loved to regale all with his stories. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Services will be private.
