Merilee Schneider, 67, passed away on May 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with
pancreatic cancer.
Merilee lived a full and meaningful life, rooted in family, friendship, and warmth. She
spent over 30 years in Hampton, New Jersey, where she and her husband raised their
two sons, before retiring to Port St. Lucie, Florida, in the winters and Ocean Beach II in
the summers - two places where she found joy in the sun, the sand, and time well spent
with loved ones.
She was a dedicated X-ray technician who took great pride in her work. Known for her
cheerful and calming presence, Merilee supported patients with care and kindness,
always making people feel at ease during challenging moments. After retirement, she
embraced a slower pace, filling her days with friends, phone calls, and coffee - always
ready for a good conversation and deeply engaged in the lives of those she loved.
She was the beloved wife of Paul Schneider and devoted mother to Andrew Schneider
(Jennifer) and Justin Schneider (Kimberly). She was lovingly known as “Grandmer” to
her three cherished grandchildren: Vaughn, Sutton, and Miles.
Merilee was predeceased by her parents, Shirley and Anthony DeFillipo, and her sister
Sharon Ruggiero. She is survived by her brother Thomas DeFillipo, and is remembered
fondly by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Merilee will be remembered for her sunny disposition, her deep devotion to family and
friends, her love of the beach, and her unwavering spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Merilee’s memory are being accepted for a bench to be
placed at the beach she loved - a place where friends and family can sit and remember
her. Any additional contributions will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action
Network (PANcan) in support of research and awareness.
