Mary passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 17th, with her daughter Michele by her side. Mary spent her last days surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Perth Amboy, NJ where she met the love of her life, Stephen Kafcsak, who pre-deceased her. They married in 1953 and settled in Metuchen, NJ to raise their family. Mary worked for the Crit and Universal Mailing as a bookkeeper into her 80’s. She was a proud and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen prior to relocating to Toms River, NJ to be closer to family.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Michele and Robert McCutcheon of Chadwick Beach, NJ and her grandsons’ families – Robert and AnnaMaria McCutcheon and great-granddaughters Alyssa, Julia, and Samantha of Brick, NJ; Brian and Jessica McCutcheon and great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Stephen of Chadwick Beach, NJ; and Eric and Elizabeth McCutcheon and great-grandchildren Grayson and Harper of Colts Neck, NJ.
Mary lived her life with grace and elegance. She had an appreciation for the finer things in life and enjoyed traveling, shopping, and fine dining. But she had no greater joy than spending time with family. One of the highlights of her life was a family trip to Cape May to celebrate her centennial birthday – a trip marked with great food, shopping, and most importantly, quality time with her entire family.
Mary was laid to rest at the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. Funeral services were private. Donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
