Janette Gail Chambers - Mejia Obituary

Janette Gail Chambers-Mejia, 49, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and fiancée, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. After a long and courageous battle with illness she was called home to be with the Lord and is now free from pain and suffering.

Janette was born on June 10, 1976 at Community Medical Center in Toms River and lived her whole life in New Jersey. Janette attended Manchester Township High School, where her bright personality and unforgettable sense of humor began to shine. Janette was truly one of a kind-funny, witty, and full of sparkle. She had an endless love for glitter and laughter, lighting up every room she entered with her radiant presence.

Janette found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking delicious meals, decorating her home with beauty and care, making old furniture look new again, tending to her garden, and spending time with her beloved cats. The beach was her sanctuary; she cherished sunny days, the sound of the waves, and getting the perfect tan. More than anything, Janette adored her family. Her children were her greatest pride and joy, and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by them.

She is survived by her children, Izaak Radames Mejia, Shania Gail Mejia, and Kevin Anthony Charlie James, her granddaughter Lively Izabel Mejia (Lively’s mother Christina Corliss), her mother, Lucinda J. Gumbaz-Zelna (Gary Zelna), her brother, Jason Anthony Gumbaz, her nephew, Logan Gumbaz, and her fiancé, Wesley Haking Eaves. She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony John Gumbaz.

Janette’s laughter, warmth, and love will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her. She was truly a ray of sunshine on a rainy day; a light that will never fade.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”— Revelation 21:4

May Janette rest in eternal peace, surrounded by God’s love and light.
