John Gugliotta (Giovanni), 90, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025. John was born and raised in Pozzallo, Sicily until the approximate age of 16. He then traveled and lived in Caracas, Venezuela to learn the carpentry trade and send his earnings back to Italy for his family. John eventually made the long journey to the United States in the early 1960s where he met and married the late Irene Gugliotta. Together, they had 3 amazing children: John, Conrad and Gina, where they were raised in North Bergen, NJ.
Shortly after Irene’s death, John remarried-we are choosing not to mention her or her family, as this caused quite the turmoil for many years…we will only mention the pleasantries.
John was very talented in his craft of carpentry, however, he worked for Pennsylvania Trucking Lines for many years and was self employed by owning two pizzerias in North Bergen and Hoboken. There were many fond memories of summer vacations spent in Miami Beach, Florida as well as Surf City, New Jersey and holiday family gatherings. He loved singing his favorite Italian songs, especially in front of a crowd!
He is survived by his three children: John (North Bergen), Conrad (Hawthorne), Gina and John Prato (Brick), five grandchildren: Breanne, Conor, John Dante, Anthony, Gianna and one precious great grandchild: Aubry Marie. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael (Rita), Vincenzo (Ninetta), Victorio (Joann), Anna (Tony) Balzano, Maria (the late Frank) DiIorgi, sister in law Maria and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his first wife, Irene, his second wife, and his siblings: Josephine and Pietro.
Our family would like to graciously thank the staff at Mystic Meadows Nursing Home and Southern Ocean Medical Center for the care you gave our Dad.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:30pm-Epiphany Church, Cliffside Park, NJ.
