Emily Irene Richard (Gore)

November 24, 1941 – January 03, 2026

Emily was born in Philadelphia, PA. Emily grew up in Beach Haven crest, New Jersey. Emily raised her family in Cedar run. She later moved to Manahawkin and for a few years lived in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Emily later moved to Manahawkin where she passed away on January 3, 2026.

Emily is predeceased by her husband Gilbert Richard; father, Boyd Gore Sr.; mother, Dorothea Gore; brother, Boyd Gore Jr. ; brother, Gary Gore Sr.; son Gary Shinn Jr. ; daughter, Wendy (Shinn)Johnson(Thomas) and step daughter, Colleen Richard.

Emily is survived by her daughters; Brenda (Shinn) Fredrickson, ( Richard) and Michelle (Shinn) Sonka, (Jeffrey). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

While raising a family, Emily went back to school to become a nurse. Emily became an LPN in her 30’s. She worked as a nurse at Southern Ocean County Hospital, which is now called Meridian.

Emily also worked for the Ocean County jail and later for Port Charlotte County as a nurse in the county jail. In between that, Emily also did private duty care for terminally ill patients.

She was very proud to be a nurse and she took great pride and taking care of her patients.

Emily liked to be active in her community. She is a former member of the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire department, ladies auxiliary. For a period of time she ran the Miss Stafford Pageant with her friend Joan Michael.

Emily loved to dance and have a good time with her friends. She enjoyed going to the casino in Atlantic City and she loved the beach.

Burial will be private. The family will have a memorial service in early spring.
