James A. Tweedy Obituary

James A. Tweedy, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ.


Born in Kingston, NY, to the late Oliver A. Tweedy and Helen Thompson and step-son of Viola Losee. James (Jim) graduated from Kingston High School in 1964. After high school, Jim served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military service, he was a hard-working truck driver before his retirement. Jim loved his family and enjoyed talking about history and his childhood memories of growing up in Hurley, NY. He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music.


Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian Tweedy; his daughter, Isa Tweedy MacCutcheon and his son, James O. Tweedy and wife, Shannon; his four grandchildren, Maegen MacCutcheon, Caitlin MacCutcheon, Wyatt Tweedy and Lily Tweedy; his siblings, John Tweedy, Jeanette Tweedy and Linda Lewis; his nieces and nephews, Heather Tweedy, Rachael Tweedy, Chelsea Tweedy Zurawell, Josh Tweedy, John Steigerwald and Tom Steigerwald.


There will be no public services as per his wishes. However, if you would like to make a donation to any Veteran Service or Cause in his name that would be appreciated.
