Loraine Valdastri Calderone Obituary

Loraine Valdastri Calderone, age 79, of Whiting, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.


Loraine was born in New York City and raised in Astoria, Queens. She graduated from Long Island City High School and went on to work for over 25 years in the admitting office at Western Queens Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was known for her warmth, compassion, and dedication to helping others.


She later raised her family in Sunnyside, Queens before retiring to Whiting, New Jersey. Loraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was known for her kind heart, radiant smile, strong spirit, and the way she made everyone around her feel welcome and loved.


She is survived by her loving sons, John Calderone and Dominic Calderone; her cherished grandchildren, Kara, John Jr. and their mother Kerri, Dominic Jr.,Sophia and their mother Jackie; her beloved greatgrandson, Zion; her cherished sister Elaine Valdastri Hernandez (Charlie); her nephews, Peter Hernandez (Maryann) and Robert Hernandez (Geri); and her nieces, Lisa McPartland (Noel) and Lauri Devenuto; and her many beloved great nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Rose Valdastri, and her dear husband, John Calderone.


Loraine will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, strength, humor, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to all who knew her.


A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Ocean County Cremation Service, 1252 Rt. 37 W, Toms River, NJ 08755, followed by a repast where family and friends will gather to celebrate her life and share memories.
