Lee W Turner Obituary
Lee W. Turner
September 9, 1943 – April 5, 2026
Lee W. Turner, born September 9, 1943, in Kingston, PA, passed peacefully at home
surrounded by his family on April 5, 2026.
As anyone who knew him could attest, Lee’s life was defined by loyalty. At 16, he met his future wife, Patricia (nee Shannon), in the Woodsiders Drum and Bugle Corps in Newark, NJ. They married in 1964, beginning a loving partnership that spanned over six decades. In 1969, Lee and Pat moved to Toms River where they raised their sons Brian and Ken, eventually relocating to their current home in Forked River in 1993.
A proud veteran, Lee served his country in the United States Air Force from March 1963 to November 1966, including a deployment to Vietnam in 1965. His commitment to public service continued upon his return to civilian life; he entered the New Jersey State Police Academy, graduating in December 1967. Lee served his community with distinction for thirty years, retiring as a Lieutenant.
In retirement, Lee remained an active member of his community, serving as Dockmaster of Lacey Elks Lodge 2518 for ten years, his dedication to the Lodge being honored with a lifetime
membership. Lee was happiest when active, enjoying traveling with Pat and sharing his love of nature with his young family through years of camping trips. Whether he was on the ski slopes of upstate New York, racing in the North American Police Ski Championships in Colorado, as captain of the State Police South softball team, or engaging in a friendly round of golf, horseshoes or shuffleboard, Lee embraced life with a competitive spirit.
Lee was predeceased by his son, Brian, and is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his son, Ken and his wife, Jeanette; his brother, Bob; and his three grandchildren, Christian, Jarred, and Rebecca. He also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and former colleagues who will remember him for his integrity, his service, and his patient, kind presence.
Lee’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hackensack Meridian hospice, particularly his hospice nurse Ken and aide CeCe for the extraordinary care and comfort they showed him during his time of need.
In lieu of flowers, please do a kind act for others in remembrance of Lee.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Pius X, Forked River, on Friday, April 17th at 11 a.m.
