Benjamin G. Dispoto passed away on May 1, 2026, quietly at his home in

Toms River, New Jersey, with his devoted wife, Valerie, at his side. Born on July 19, 1941, in Jersey City, Ben lived his life working hard, playing harder, and telling it like it is—always ready to impart a little wisdom or extend a generous hand.

Raised among extended family, Ben built his own legacy with his beloved wife of 63 years, Valerie Joyce Dispoto (née Kowaleuski). Together they raised their two children in the Secaucus home he designed so his parents could live alongside them—a home where people gathered and lasting memories were made. He was a devoted father and grandfather who showed up for every moment, and watching his family thrive was among his greatest joys.

Ben was a proud family man and successful businessman. He began his career as a draftsman, where precision became his hallmark, before moving into sales and management at Turnpike Ford and Carteret Ford. He later founded Meadowlands Truck Sales and acquired Prestige Rubber Manufacturing. Ben made deals on a handshake—his word was worth its weight in gold—firm but fair and respected by all who knew him.

Ben is survived by his wife Valerie; his children Gary (Paula) Dispoto and Kim (Paul) Levine; grandchildren Matthew, Brett, and Sarah; and his brother Frank (Grace) Dispoto Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rachel Dispoto; his grandson, Jesse Dispoto; and his beloved dog, Nappy.

He will be profoundly missed by all who called him Benny, Dad, Pop, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and friend—his legacy is permanent and his memory eternal. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the Alzheimers Association, alz.org
