Irene Davella Obituary
Irene Davella was the kind of person who made others feel welcome the moment they met her.
Known for her big heart, cheerful spirit, and generous nature, she was a loving mother, devoted
sister, aunt, and friend, and someone who would truly give you the shirt off her back. Whether
family, friends, or someone in need, Irene always made people feel welcome, often saying, “I’ll
put the coffee on,” as she opened her home and heart to others. Always trying to feed us.
Born on April 28, 1946, and raised in East Orange, Irene was the daughter of Joseph and Vintry
Dombeck. She was the cherished sister of Janet (deceased) and sista Linda and spouse Donald; a
loving aunt to her nephew Michael, with whom she shared a very special bond; his wife Sharon,
children Ashleigh and Mikey, and grandchildren May, Asher, and Georgia; and most importantly,
a proud and devoted mother to her only daughter, Michelle.
Irene had a personality that people naturally gravitated toward. She was funny, compassionate,
generous, and full of life, with a warmth that made everyone around her feel comfortable and
welcome. Friends often described her as someone who never hesitated to help others and would
give whatever she could to someone in need until her cup was empty, then somehow found a way
to pour a little more. She had a beautiful spirit, a kind heart, and an ability to make lasting
friendships wherever she went.
A strong and hardworking woman, Irene was a single mother who spent part of her career
working as a dispatcher for SOPD before later retiring from the municipal court. She dedicated
much of her life to caring for others, including her mother and people throughout her community,
always putting the needs of others before her own.
One of Irene’s greatest joys in life was bingo. She was a true bingo enthusiast who loved not
only the game itself, but the people and friendships that came along with it. She became known
for entering the bingo hall with a bright smile and her unforgettable “Hi Everybody!” greeting
that could instantly brighten the room. Her lively personality and joyful energy made her well
loved by so many.
Irene was also talented and creative, spending countless hours crocheting beautiful afghans for
family, friends, and even strangers she felt deserved a little kindness. Giving to others came
naturally to her, and the love she shared will continue to live on through the many people
fortunate enough to have known her.
Irene Davella passed away peacefully on her 80th birthday, surrounded by her beloved daughter,
sister, and close friends whose lives she touched deeply throughout the years.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, humor, generosity, and the
love she gave so freely.
Rest in Peace Mama, Sister, Aunt, and friend. You are truly loved!
