5 Common Misconceptions About Pre-Planning Your Funeral

Pre-planning funerals has become increasingly popular as people prepare for the future, but here are some myths you should know about advanced funeral planning.

1. Death Is Too Far Off

You may feel death is too far away and while this can be true, it is just as suitable for the young and healthy to prepare for the future as well as the older or infirm. Aside from ensuring that your preferences are met, you could save money by purchasing at today’s prices, as well as making death easier to talk about for your family.

2. It’s Hard To Discuss

Death is a difficult subject for many, but it doesn’t have to be. Pre-planning your funeral can give you plenty of time to make decisions, discuss openly with your family and fully explain what you want, in your own time. This avoids confusion and more upset later on for your loved ones after you pass.

3. We’ve Already Chosen Between Cremation Or Burial

A funeral or memorial service is much more than a burial or cremation, although this is a fantastic place to start and involves a lot more choices that need to be considered. Advanced planning ensures you have covered everything with a professional so nothing is missed.

4. I Won’t Care I’ll Be Gone

This may be true, but the family that are left behind are the ones that will care. If they aren’t exactly sure what you may want, it could cause uncertainty, disagreements or arguments among them which makes the grieving process even more difficult because, chances are, you won’t have discussed everything.

5.We Are Financially Secure

Many believe that pre-planning is made because of the financial costs of a funeral however this isn’t the case. Even if you are financially stable, a funeral takes a lot of time and effort to plan which can be a burden on grieving family. Dealing with it now can of course be cheaper as you are paying prices now rather than in years’ time but it also save time and energy for your family which can be even more costly.

Hopefully this gives you more understanding for advanced planning you. Visit our website for more information on pre-planning your funeral.
