Cremation Facts - Everything You Need to Know

Today, many people are veering away from traditional burials and opting for cremations. This is more relevant in the case of individuals that are considering pre-planning their funeral and want to make their choice well in advance. Understanding what the cremation process involves will help them ascertain whether it’s something they would like to opt for.

Here are some cremation facts:

  • It’s a common misunderstanding among people, that if they opt for cremation, they can’t have any funeral service. The fact is that a cremation in no way interferes with the overall funeral and a full funeral service can be conducted too. If the person wants a memorial service or a wake that is possible as well; these services will be held before the body is cremated.

  • The ashes are what remains after the cremation and the family members have the option to either scatter these ashes, store them in their home or have them buried in a cemetery. The other option is to have them stored in a columbarium. Some people also choose to use the ashes in some artwork or may bury them in their backyard too.

  • A cremation is more cost-effective than a standard burial. There may not be any additional costs such as preparing the body or transporting it to the cemetery, the cost of the traditional casket, the grave marker or liner etc.

If you need any specific information about what else is involved in a cremation, you can also pose your queries to the funeral director. They would be able to provide you all the information you need about what’s involved in the cremation process.

If you want to know more about the cremation or want to arrange for a funeral service, contact us at Ocean County Cremation Service today. We’ll be happy to help.
