A funeral is a very solemn event and everyone present will be grieving the death of the departed. It also means that people are more sensitive to things around them as well as anything that others say to them. This makes a very important for you to follow a certain funeral take it without fail. After all, you send for cause anything to anyone during the time of grief. Here are some tips to follow when you attend a funeral:

  • Make it a point to choose sober attire and stay away from bold and colorful patterns. If you are wearing makeup keep it clean and simple and always avoid casual clothing such as t-shirts or jeans. If children are accompanying you to the funeral service, make sure that they are dressed appropriately as well.
  • Do not be tardy when you are attending a funeral. Be at the venue at least 15 to 20-minutes before the mentioned time and find a seat. You can interact with the family or others attending the service, as long as you speak in hushed tones.
  • If a delay is inevitable and you happen to walk and late, do not disrupt the service by making your presence felt. Find the seat at the back as quietly as you can.
  • Make sure that your mobile devices are on silent and that you do not try to make/receive any phone calls or send any messages while you are at the funeral service.
  • These are just some of the etiquettes to keep in view when you are attending a funeral. Maintaining decorum and following these simple things goes a long way in showing your respect for the deceased for some as well as the grieving family.
