Is A Casket Required For Cremation?

Cremation is no longer an alien concept, and many people are now opting for it rather than burials.  It is an eco-friendly way of disposing of the remains of a deceased person and is also cost-effective. However, not everyone is aware of what is involved in cremation. Many want to know whether a casket is required for it.  Even if you opt for cremation, you would need a simple casket.  Here is some more useful information on the matter.

Why do you Need a Casket?

  • No matter which crematorium you go to, they would need you to put the deceased person in some container.  This is because the casket protects the mortal remains while they are being moved from the funeral home to the chosen crematorium.

  • When the body is in a casket, the funeral home staff members can work safely and in a dignified way when they are treating the human remains.

  • No crematorium operator is licensed to handle the human remains directly, making it mandatory for family members to opt for a casket during a cremation.

Choosing A Casket

When a family is grieving, they may find it very difficult to deal with all the aspects of managing a funeral and picking the right casket.  If you choose not to have a funeral service or a memorial service, the funeral home may offer a sturdy cardboard container to place the remains.  Since minimal resources are used, it is an environment-friendly option.

A cardboard container is a dignified and practical option; however, if you want, you can always add any personal items that you like to the container.  If you feel that the carboard casket is too basic, you can pick one that you like.  A credible funeral home will always have different options and will provide you information about which casket you can choose and what the cost will be.
