4 Advantages of an Urn Vault

The cremation process produces ashes and these ashes are placed in an urn, which is then handed over to the family. Some families choose to scatter or bury the ashes, but some prefer to keep the urn in their home where it is visible and accessible. At Ocean County Cremation Service, we encourage people to get an urn vault if they intended to bury the urn and here are some reasons why:

1. Sturdy

Cremation urns are fairly delicate and will shatter under pressure if you bury them underground. An urn vault provides additional protection that can handle the pressure exerted by the soil. These vaults are made from strong materials so the ashes will remain contained in one place. Many burial grounds require a vault all urn burials.

2. Will Protect the Urn

Vaults protect the urns from the outdoor elements like water, snow, and heat. The last thing you want is for the cremated remains of your loved one being washed away or spread out because the urn shattered underground. A vault provides the best possible protection, ensuring the remains always stay in one place.

3. Different Types

Vaults are available in different sizes and designs. They are made from materials like wood, concrete, or marble so they can be very durable. Choose a material that suits your requirements and is permitted by the burial ground.

4. Customizable

You can customize the vault so that it is a better representation of the deceased individual’s personality. For example, if your loved one loved football, you can commission a vault that looks like a football. Such personal touches can help families find some comfort and peace.
