Obituary of Clifford J Brendler

Clifford J. Brendler, 65, of Seaside Park passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at home. Born in Trenton, raised in Pennington, he lived in Toms River before settling in Seaside Park 32 years ago. He was a 1974 graduate of Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and proudly served the USN as a civilian mechanical engineer for 42.5 years at NAVAIR Lakehurst.

 

Cliff was a devout Christian and always committed to helping anyone in need.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River for 30 years and served as a Youth Leader and beloved mentor to countless youth and supported numerous committees before transferring to the Pt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. As youth leader, he served on 10 Group WorkCamp Summer Mission Trips with PCTR youth.

He was a dedicated Central Regional Marching Band Pit Parent.

 

Cliff loved surfing, the seashore, hiking, kayaking, hockey, photography, rock and mineral collecting and was always working on some type of carpentry/home project.  

 

He was predeceased by his father, Arthur, his mother, Helen Schoeneberg Brendler Hirst, his stepfather, Conrad Hirst and brother, Keith Brendler. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years, Deborah (Wahl) Brendler, and their children, Katie Brendler, San Anselmo, CA, and Timothy Brendler, Arlington, TX. He is also survived by siblings Marlene (Brendler) Lewis, Mary Ellen (Hirst) Devlin and husband Martin, and Martha (Hirst) Devlin and husband James; sisters-in-law, Joann (Sarullo) Brendler, Carol (Wahl) Favire, Katherine Wahl and brothers-in-law Louis Wahl and wife Joann (Edmond) Wahl and Michael Wahl and partner Jerri Cornine; 13 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17th at the Pt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Bay & Forman Aves, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
