Obituary of Richard T Fitzgerald

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard T. Fitzgerald, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2017 in Little Egg Harbor, where he lived for the past 13 years.

Prior to that, Richard and his wife, Madeline, who predeceased him in 2014, lived in Red Bank and Jersey City.

Richard was a Naval Veteran in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Richard received his teaching degree from Seton Hall University, and later his graduate degree.

He enjoyed his career, spending most of his years in education at Snyder High School, where he was appointed Athletic Director and Vice Principal.  He retired in 1987.

Richard and Madeline traveled and spent time at their weekend home in Barnegat.  He enjoyed gardening and always had projects to keep busy.

Richard is survived by children Maura and Chris Kearns, son Richard, and  two grandsons, Jack and Tim, of whom he was very proud.  He had many happy memories of family vacations.

Richard was predeceased by his brother, Joseph, and leaves a dear sister, Marie Gratzer of Barnegat, whose frequent visits meant so much to both of them.

Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
