Obituary of William Herceg

William Herceg, age 90, of Whiting, NJ, previously a resident of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017.  William (Bela) Herceg was born in Perth Amboy to Anna and John Herceg on February 11, 1927.  He went to high school at Perth Amboy High School and graduated in 1944.  William served for four years in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Township of Perth Amboy for over 30 years.  After retiring, he worked in the Field Maintenance Department for the Perth Amboy Board of Education.  William enjoyed playing baseball when he was younger and watched the games throughout his lifetime. His favorite team was the New York Mets.  He was a member of St. John’s Hungarian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy.  William was predeceased by his wife, Minnie Herceg and his brother, John Herceg.  He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Herceg; nieces Eileen Herceg-Brown and her husband, William P. Brown, Jr. and Karen Corrine Herceg; and great nephews, Alexander Boccio and his wife Kjersti and their two daughters, Hannah and Sofia; Justin Boccio and his wife Honeybee and John Boccio.  He will be entombed at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in the Chapel Garden Mausoleum, US Highway 1N, Woodbridge, NJ.  Arrangements are under the direction of Ocean County Cremation Service, Toms River, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. John’s Hungarian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 664 Amboy Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861
