Elvia Barbara (Fox) Wilson

On December 22, 2017 Elvia Wilson (88 years young) gracefully passed away in a place she loved, with her husband at her side, overlooking the beautiful view of Barnegat Bay from their wonderful home in Seaside Park, NJ.

Elvia, better known as Elly to her family and friends and Lala to her 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and their many friends, was born in 1929 in Elizabeth and raised in Union. While in Union, she met her future husband William (Bill) 72 years ago at a high school basketball game. She was married on April 21, 1951, moved to Colonia, NJ, where she raised her daughter Deborah Ellen and son Keith William. A loving mother, compassionate wife, she enjoyed traveling, sunbathing, swimming in the ocean, skiing, tennis, bicycling and spending her summers at the shore in Seaside Park. As teenagers, she competitively sailed on “The Lucky Lover” with Bill and later sail on the A-Cat “BAT”, where she gained a love for outdoor life near Barnegat Bay. She was a long-time member of the Seaside Park Yacht Club where her husband Bill, her daughter Debbie and son Keith served as club commodores, of which she was so proud. Her elegance and flair for style made her one of the admired women of the S.P.Y.C. She was also a long-time member of the “White Lillies”, a group of elementary and high school women who continued their friendships over the many years. Her loving devotion to her marriage and family was legendary and greatly respected by all who were lucky enough to have known her. One of her favorite quotes, “All Because Two People Fell in Love” appears on the front of her bayside home. As the matriarch of her rather large family, she has clearly set an example of what a loving, devoted, loyal family should aspire to be.

Elly was pre-deceased by her daughter Deborah (Stellar) and brother William Fox and is survived by her loving husband and soul-mate William Franklin Wilson and son Keith William Wilson, daughter-in-law Lynne, son-in-law Tony Stellar, eight grandchildren Nicole Wilson (Mahoney), Troy Wilson, Brooke Wilson (Valentine), Ashleigh Wilson (Overlee), TJ Stellar, Skylar Wilson, Derek Stellar and Dana Stellar (Holmes) and seventeen great grandchildren.

There will be a June 2018 celebration of Elly’s extraordinary life at the Seaside Park Yacht Club. Details and invitations will be distributed at a later date.
