Obituary of Robert Martin Novak

Whiting, NJ

Robert Martin Novak, aka Bob to his family and friends, was born July 29, 1940, in Edison, New Jersey.  He grew up and lived much of his life in Fords, New Jersey before settling in Ocean County, living several years in Jackson then Whiting.  He passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, at the AristaCare nursing facility in Whiting, New Jersey.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Martin and Helen Novak, and is survived by his son, Aaron Robert Novak and wife Mary Beth, of Midlothian, Virginia; his daughter Catherine Lee Petosa and husband Michael, of Lebanon, New Jersey; and beloved grandchildren Ava and Jack Novak.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob worked as a chemical engineer for International Flavors and Fragrances in New York City and Union Beach, New Jersey before retiring after over thirty years of service.

Bob loved the outdoors and spent many wonderful summers with his family fishing and hiking in the Adirondacks.  He relished warm, sunny summers and spent much of his free time visiting various beaches at the Jersey shore and enjoyed taking road trips to Florida.  Bob was also an accomplished artist and was a member of the Pine Shores Art Association, where he spent hours creating beautiful paintings and pastel drawings with wonderful friends.
