Obituary of Raymond Hammill

 

Raymond J. Hammill, age 73, of Jackson, NJ, formerly of Union Beach, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born November 3, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ.  Raymond served in the US Army and was a Jersey City Police Officer for 25 years. He was a member of The National Fraternal Order of Police, Jersey City Lodge 004 and the Toms River Elks Lodge #1875.  Raymond was also the former President of the Monmouth County Irish Federation.

He is predeceased by his parents, James and Cecilia (Gertie) Hammill and brother in law, Ole Henriksen.  Raymond is survived by his wife Cecelia; sister Eileen Henriksen; eight children, Sean and wife Kelly, Tara White and husband Joseph, Lorraine Conn and husband Damon, Edward and significant other Kristin, Cecelia DePierro, Kenneth Farrell and wife Ivette, Joseph Farrell, Colleen Dickenson and husband Wayne; 14 grandchildren, Elissa, Joseph, Peter, Starlah, Logan, Ryder, Hudson, James, JR, Alex, Melissa, Deven, Dylan and Makayla; 1 great-granddaughter Kayla.  Also, surviving is his stepson Bobby DeRocco and his wife Carol and family; several nephews, great nephews and nieces and cousins.

Ray loved to spend his winters in Clearwater Beach, FL and was passionate about his New York Giants and Boston Red Sox.

Funeral Services will be 1:30PM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hackensack Meridian Hospice, 80 Nautilus Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
