JOHN SCOTT FISHER

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ     

John Scott Fisher (78), formerly of Leisure Village, Lakewood NJ,  passed away peacefully at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson NJ on June 24, 2018 after having been a life-long Type 1 Diabetic.

 

An Electrical Design and Environmental Engineer, Mr. Fisher worked for Research-Cottrell Inc., Air & Water Technologies and Environmental Elements Corporation traveling extensively to many foreign countries.  He served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary at the Manasquan Inlet, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. He is descended from the first settlers of New Amsterdam, New Paltz NY and from the Mayflower.

 

“Jack” was born April 6, 1940 in Teaneck NJ and raised in Harrington Park NJ, the son of Winfield Scott Hancock Fisher, Jr. and Dorothea Meta Muth Fisher.  He graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School in 1958 and received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Bethany College WV, Class of 1965.

 

Mr. Fisher built HO gauge trains and collected railroad memorabilia as well as 18th century primitive furnishings.  He was a strong supporter of diabetes research, animal rights, nature and wildlife.

 

He is survived by three daughters:  Jennifer Fisher Carr, (Tim) Jackson NJ; Kristen Fisher Perri, (Jim) and granddaughter Lauren, Toms River NJ; Farrah Fisher Fitton, (Dennis) and granddaughter Emma of Alexandria NH; and granddaughter Jolene Prendergast, Brick Township.  Daughter Hayley Fisher Prendergast predeceased him. Other survivors are his sister Joann Fisher Schmidt, (J. David) Clinton Corners NY; and cousins Judith A. Fisher, Boston MA; W. Scott Fisher, Fruit Heights UT; and Wayne G. Fisher, Gainesville FL.  

 

An at-sea burial will be handled by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
