Obituary of Dolores Metz

 

Native Dongan Hills resident Dolores Metz 90, a retired school aide, relocated to Manahawkin NJ full time in 2000, died Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin NJ.

Born Dolores Smith, in the Concord section of Staten Island and settled in Dongan Hills, married to Wilbur (RED) Metz.

A graduate of New Dorp High School. She was a member of the Rocky Hallow Drum Core. She retired from the NYC Board of Education working at P.S. 11 for 27 years.

She along with her husband Red, of 70 years, did a lot of traveling and enjoyed her weekly trips to Atlantic City.

'' GAMMY and GAY GAY, as she was known as, had a huge heart and her family was her life, Especially when it came to her Three grandchildren.

She made sure she was at every single event in their lives from the ball fields, to the hockey rinks, or just their special events, she didn't miss anything.

In her most recent years, she enjoyed seeing her Three Great grandchild, Daniel 2, Mathew 13 and Emma 15.

She loved playing games and just spending time with them at the "Shore House".

In addition to her three great grandchildren, Dolores is survived by her loving husband Wilbur, daughters the late Lynn Turrisi and Laurie Beyar, three Grandchildren, James Turrisi, Lauren Beyar and Danny Beyar, loving sister of Edna Metz, the late Catherine Tuite and the late William Smith.  Also, her loving son in law Danny Beyar, Anna Turrisi, Ashlee Beyar and many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held.
