Evelyn C. Brooks, 86 of Barnegat, NJ passed peacefully of natural causes on August 4, 2020 at her daughter Pat’s home. Evelyn was born in Jersey City, NJ, and lived in Colonia, NJ for over 30 years prior to retiring to Berkeley Twsp., NJ. She attended Snyder HS, Jersey City and earned her GED from The NJ State Department of Education. While raising her children, Evelyn rejoined the workforce with Cornells Children’s Wear, Menlo Park Mall as a cashier. She then joined Royal Foods/Flemming Companies in Avenel, NJ where she retired as Customer Service Supervisor. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents John “Chic” Carroll and Frieda Dammeyer-Carroll; her loving husband of 67 years John F. Brooks, Jr; daughter Evelyn C. “Debbie” Brooks-Kozo and her husband Thomas Kozo; Sister Jean Tumulty, and Brothers John “Jack”, and Daniel J. Carroll. Surviving are sister Elaine Carrol-Netchel, and Evelyn’s loving children John F. Brooks III and wife Ellen of Toms River, NJ, Patricia A. Albretsen and husband Gary of Barnegat, NJ; Christopher M. Brooks and wife Bonny of Marlton, NJ; her 10 grandchildren – Richard, Thomas, and Melissa Kozo; Jennifer Manning and John Brooks IV; Michael and Matthew Albretsen; Christopher, Jason, and Christian “CJ” Brooks; 14 great grandchildren, Richard, Jr; Caden, Jarret, Avery; Lexy, Tyler; Rane, Mac; Peyton; Rylee, Emmalynn; Dylan, Trevor, Lilymae; and 1 great-great grandchild, Liam. Evelyn was a “Jersey Girl” who loved the Beach – especially Toms River, Sandy Hook and LBI. She was an avid Bridge player who also enjoyed painting, bowling, and the slots at Harrah’s Atlantic City, where the family attended “The Billy Martin Roast” with Howard Cosell, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, among others. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, her favorite players were Derek Jeter and Bernie Williams. A visit to Mom & Dad’s home was always “Fair & Balanced” as they were loyal watchers of the FOX News Channel. Committal will be private. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by the family.
