Obituary of David J Bell

David J. Bell, 62, died on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in NJ after a 4 week battle with COVID-19. Son of the late Robert and Patricia Bell, Dave was born January 19, 1959 in Los Alamos, NM and moved to Watchung, NJ at age 4. At age 16 he became an inaugural member of the University of Delaware’s Honors Program Class of 1980, and majored in Philosophy. While at UD, he met his first wife Jeanne DiSanto. They married in 1981, lived in Wilmington, DE and had two children, Kenneth (1984) and Stephanie (1987). After divorcing in 1996, he married his second wife Kathy Foley and welcomed daughter Laura in 1997. For almost 30 years he was employed at Boeing, Thomas Jefferson University and Dade Behring in various computer science positions. Dave had many hobbies and interests, including basketball, skiing, playing trombone, piano and guitar, singing, cooking and gardening. But he was also an avid gamer. He enjoyed board games, card games, and video games equally. Neverending risk games with college friends, bridge nights with Sue & Bob, and teaching his children the subtle distinctions between A and B on the Nintendo controller all brought him great joy. He was truly a kid at heart. He leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his son Kenneth Bell and his wife Lynn Bell of Akron, OH, daughters Stephanie Bell and her wife Lindsay Gleason of New York, NY and Laura Foley of Philadelphia, PA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Evelyn and Audrey, sister Jane Kronenwetter and brothers Skip and John Bell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 beginning at 12:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 524 South Street, New Providence, NJ.
