Obituary of Lucille Ciufia

Lucille Ciufia (Scaraglino), 80, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on August 10, 2021, at her residence in the Brandywine Assisted Living Facility. Lucy, actually Lucia, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 2, 1941, to Andrea and Providenza (Giglio) Scaraglino. She attended public schools in Brooklyn, NY, graduated from Brick Computer Science Institute in 1977 and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal from Tampa College in 1999. Graduating Magna Cum Laude was one of her greatest accomplishments. Lucy proudly worked as a paralegal for many years for the State of Florida, Family Services Division. While raising her family in Toms River, NJ, Lucy was a member of the Toms River First Aid Ladies Auxiliary. Lucille is survived by her children Josephine Smith, Detroit, MI, Frank Ciufia and wife Nancy, Toms River, NJ, and Andrew Ciufia and wife Laura, Pine Beach, NJ, along with her grandchildren Joshua, Tyler, Christine (husband Mykola), Danielle, Renee, Jenny and her great grandson Arie, her sister Teresa Lazaro and husband Sam, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucy is predeceased by her parents and her sisters Frances Tina Higgins and Andrea Tripp. Lucille took much pleasure in her Italian family culture, and had a love for cooking, creative activities and family gatherings. She thoroughly enjoyed singing, dancing, painting, gardening, sewing and caring for her furry friends, especially Oliver her cat. The family extends their gratitude to Brandywine of Toms River for the compassionate care Lucy received for the past six years. Visitation with family will be on Friday, August 20, at The Church of Grace & Peace, Toms River, NJ, from 10 to 11AM. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service, officiated by her cousin Pastor Raphael Giglio, will begin at 11AM.
