Janet G. Skoog, 90, of Forked River, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 8, 2022. She was born in Belmar, NJ and lived in Brick before moving to Forked River in 2007.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Wallace G. Skoog, her parents Harry & Ethel Gifford (Preston), her brothers George Gifford of Largo, FL and Franklin Gifford of Eatontown, NJ, her sister Mary Megill (Gifford) of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, and great granddaughter Rita Rose of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
She is survived by her three children, Shirley Rose Simon of Sunrise, FL, Daniel W. Skoog and his wife Toni of Lakewood, NJ, and Kathleen Wixted and her husband Vince of Forked River, NJ. Six grandchildren, Thomas Rose and his wife Sally, Gina Buchel (Rose) and her husband Rich, Renee’ Harrison (Skoog) and her husband Bruce, Matthew Skoog and his wife Candice, Breanna Wixted & Brigette Wixted. She has eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was the former owner of Mr. Keys in Brick, NJ with her husband Wally and son Dan. Janet was also a member and church elder at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Pt. Pleasant, NJ for over 65 years. She was a member of the church choir, the ladies club and many other church organizations within the church always ready to give a helping hand. Janet was loved by many throughout her many years doing all sorts of volunteer work with Deborah hospital and Community Medical Center. Janet was an avid walker back in the day and you could often find her with a friend or two on Pt. Pleasant boardwalk doing her laps.
A memorial service is being planned for early April at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Serenity Hospice Care 56 Georgetown Rd, Bordentown, NJ 08505
