Raymond “Duke” Decker, 94, of Sebastian, Florida (formerly of Ringwood, NJ), passed away on June 14th, 2022 surrounded lovingly by his family. Ray was born on January 23, 1928 in Lynbrook, NY. At the age of 16 he joined the United States Navy to serve in World War II. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Marilyn; the two celebrated 71 years of marriage this past May. Marilyn and Ray moved to New Jersey to raise their family, where they also owned several businesses including the Holy Mackerel seafood restaurant in Wanaque. Over the many years in the restaurant industry they developed lifelong ties to the community and its members while fostering a family amongst their staff. They spent the last 30 years of their marriage splitting time between Sebastian, Florida and staying with family in New Jersey. Ray lived to be loved by and to love his family. Ray is predeceased by his son, Kenneth. He is survived by his wife: Marilyn; his children: daughter-in-law Lori, Denise and her husband Paul, Robert and his wife Maria, Patti and her husband Ray, and Eileen and her wife Nona; 11 grandchildren: Ray, Katie and her husband Dan, Dean, Sean and his wife Jamie, Jenna and her husband Adam, Jaclyn and her husband Matt, Erin and her husband Michael, Megan and her fiancé Matt, Nicholas and his wife Bianca, Christopher and his fiancée Lindsay, and Matt; and 9 great-grandchildren: Emily, Jillian, Sean, Penelope, Giselle, Duke, Isabella, Robert, and Logan. The family has plans for a private celebration of Ray’s life to take place at his beloved shore house during the summer.
