Helen Gertrude Landeck Stein Wittenberg, 96, met Jesus on Monday, July 18th


Helen, born in Philadelphia, was a Christian who showed love and kindness to all she met.


She moved to Toms River in 1948 and was a clerical worker. She was active at the Island Heights Methodist Church where she led a bible study group, Helen loved butterflies and was a much “sought after” partner when playing games, especially Pinochle.


She is predeceased by husbands: Robert Stein and William Wittenberg, parents: Alexander and Julia Landeck, and sister, Margaret Lindsay.


A devoted aunt to nieces and nephews: Nanci Lindsay Smith, Steven Lindsay, Brian Lindsay, Sarah Kemper, goddaughters: Nancy Caldwell, Caroll Murray and Jaclyn Wyzykowski and godson Larry John Caldwell.


In addition, she is survived by step daughters: Barbara Schumacher, Bettie Lou Kenny, Lynn Laing, Janet Lafferty and countless loved ones who were blessed to call her Aunt Helen.


The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff at Harrogate in Lakewood for the extraordinary love and care given to Helen for over 20 years, she will be sorely missed.


A memorial service will be held near the end of summer…
