Geraldine Louise McPherson

Widow of James McPherson. Mother of Robert McPherson and Jean Ayres. Grandmother of Samantha Dorris. Great-grandmother of Everett James and Hazel Dorris.

Known as Gerry to her friends. She was a loving wife and mother and a life-long learner. She received degrees in chemistry and education at a time when “degreed”, career women were rare.

She and Jim moved to Toms River to start a family and after teaching in the Brick public schools that's exactly what happened. Gerry became a full time homemaker and focused on raising their children. Later in life her love of learning brought her back to college and earned her a degree in computer science.

Beyond her family and education, the other loves of her life were cooking and entertaining. She baked dozens of types of Christmas cookies each year during the holidays to show her love and keep in touch with friends and family across the country. She continually experimented with new recipes causing some to bemoan they would never see a favorite recipe as she’d already moved on to the next.

Gerry is much loved and will be greatly missed.
