Wayne J. Mathis, 66, of Beachwood, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on

Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Born and raised in South Florida, he joined the Marines as a teen and

traveled the world. His travels continued after the service until he returned to Florida to begin his career

in pest control. He moved to New Jersey in 1992 with the 2 loves of his life, his wife and daughter,

where he soon started his own company, Best Pest Control. His vast knowledge and honesty gained

him many loyal connections and friendships along with customers that adored him. He never hesitated

to help anyone, anytime, anywhere. Any free time was spent with his family and he enjoyed trivia,

concerts and trips to Atlantic City, but his favorite time was spent watching movies at home with take out

food on the sofa with his dogs.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dawn, his daughter Samantha and her fiance Eric, his sister,

Sandy Willett along with his nieces, Tina Pacella, Laurie Hulten (Marc) and Sara Bowdridge (Josh) and

his great niece and nephews, Lexie, Max, A.J., Harrison, Zachary and Donovan. Also survived by

father-in-law and mother-in-law Woodrow and Daneen Patierno and brother-in-law Bill Patierno .

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm, at Ocean County Cremation

Service Funeral Home and Chapel, 1252 Route 37, Toms River, NJ. Condolences can be left at

shelter and/or rescue.
