Obituary of Rosario Martorano

Rosario "Russ" Martorano, age 85, of Berkeley Twp, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016. He was born in Newark and lived in Maplewood before moving to Berkeley Twp. in 1995. Russ was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. 2nd tank battalion, 2nd marine division during the Korean War. He was also a drummer in the Marine Drum and Bugle Corp. Russ was a Police Officer for the Maplewood Police Department for many years. He loved to ride all 5 of his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Russ enjoyed horseback riding and was an instructor at Brown's Riding Stable. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen "Candy"; daughter Cindy; Son Richard and his companion Sue and her daughter, 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; Sister Carrie; Brothers, Vincent and Joseph as well as numerous nieces, nephews, their children and many friends whom he loved dearly. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, 130 St. Maximilian Lane, Toms River. Committal Service will follow at 12:30 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45252.
