Gregory Joseph Garrison, 44, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on August 31, 2023. Gregory was a

loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He is predeceased by his father, Joseph Garrison. Gregory

is survived by his mother, Diane Garrison, sister, Jennifer Garrison, sister, Stephanie Dietrich, brother in

law, Robert Dietrich, nephews: Bobby and Jake Dietrich and nieces: Emma and Anna Dietrich.

Greg was born in Brentwood, NY and spent his later childhood living in Selden, NY. Although Greg

moved to New Jersey at age 19, his heart belonged to Long Island. He kept many strong ties with some

of his closest childhood friends and they remained a big part of his most comforting memories. Greg was

an amazing and talented musician. He wrote many of his own songs and instrumentals. In addition to

being an amazing drummer and guitarist, he also had a broad knowledge of audio engineering, which

was self-taught, and loved to share his passion for music with anyone who was interested in learning.

Greg’s strong passion and love for music also served as an outlet for him. Anyone who knew Greg could

see how much music meant to him. He wasn’t shy when it came to sharing his knowledge and unique

style. He “marched to the beat of his own drum”, which was one of his most admirable qualities. Greg’s

family and friends will remember him for staying dedicated to what brought him joy.

Greg had a wacky sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He had a way to find humor, even during

difficult times. He was a sensitive and compassionate man, and was never shy to show his emotions or

affection to those he loved. Greg will be missed beyond measure, by those who were fortunate to know

him and be loved by him. His passing will leave an unsurmountable void in our lives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 1pm – 3pm, at Ocean County
