Raymond Rimoldi
September 20, 1955 - March 17, 2024
Co-founder, lead singer and guitarist for the E. Walker Band and beloved general manager of the
Surf and Stream campground, Raymond Rimoldi, 68, of Toms River, N.J. passed away on March
17, 2024. The cause of death was cancer.
Raymond was born to Angelina Rizzo and Mario Rimoldi and lived his childhood in Emerson,
N.J. His father was a musician and inspiration to Ray in his early years. Once he picked up the
guitar there was no stopping him. He fell in love with making music and entertaining people. He
attended Emerson Jr. Sr. High School where he and his friends formed their first band - Dendo
Wooey - a name which was changed to the E. Walker Band in 1971. They excelled at covering
the latest rock music from Marshall Tucker to Peter Frampton and drew audiences from the
Jersey shore to New York state. Rays stage name was Ray Dahr, inspired by a highway sign.
They became the house band at The Fast Lane in Asbury Park where they rubbed elbows with
famous rock stars. The band broke up in 1981 after an attempt to make an album in Toronto.
After life with the band, Ray worked various jobs but found his permanent place as General
Manager of the Surf and Stream Campground in Toms River, N.J. He loved the outdoors, the
animals, and the people at the vacation spot and took good care of all of them.
Ray met the love of his life, Paula, in 1977 and they married in 1986. After their first home in
Toms River was severely damaged by hurricane Sandy, they moved into a house in Holiday City
where Ray continued to enjoy his hobbies of writing music, playing the guitar, performing, and
studying the Bible. He wrote a book covering his religious perspectives and published it on
Amazon books under the name Anonymous.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Pauline. He is survived by his wife, Paula,
his brother Mario, and sister Denise. He thoroughly enjoyed the times he spent with his friends,
cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ray was a very special person and will live on in all of us that had
the amazing experience of meeting and knowing him.
There will be a celebration of life service at 12:00 pm in the chapel of the Ocean County
Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River on April 1, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations
to the Animal Birth Control Inc., P.O. Box 353, Pine Beach N.J. 08741 would be greatly
appreciated.
