Susan Paul Obituary

Susan Paul (née Coyne) of Manchester passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2024.

She was born on November 3, 1947, the second of five siblings, and raised in Belmar. She

graduated from St. Rose High School in 1965. Susan later returned to Belmar to raise her own

family. She worked for a time at the Monmouth County Welfare Board and other jobs including

Jersey Shore Medical Center and Irv’s Deli.

Susan was a humble and selfless person and a woman of great faith who opened her heart and

her home to many. She often dropped whatever she was doing to assist when someone needed

help. In her retirement, she dedicated herself to caring for others and enjoyed spending time

with family and friends. An avid sports fan who rooted passionately for all of her favorite teams,

she was also known in certain circles as a bargain hunter extraordinaire who elevated the past

time to such a level that it nearly became a sport of its own. She loved reading, watching movies

and listening to music and never missed a chance to show off her moves on the dance floor.

Susan was good company and great fun to be with, always ready to take a road trip or see a

show. She was very loved and will be dearly missed.

Susan is predeceased by her parents, John and Lucille Coyne, brother Michael, daughter-in-law

Erin Paul and ex-husband James Paul. She is survived by siblings Robert Coyne and his wife

Janet Cichocki, Carol Dunak and her partner Robert Calabrese, and Peter Coyne; her daughter

Kerry and husband Jeffrey DeAngelis and their children Ashley and Anthony; her sons James and

his children Anthony and Aidan, Joseph his partner Diana Herreros and their son Landin, and

Jeffrey and his daughter Emilee; her long-time companion and dear friend Thomas Kokinchak,

as well as her beloved nieces, cousins and many “unofficial” family members.

At Susan’s request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be private. Arrangements

care of Ocean County Cremation Service (oceancountycremationservice.com). In lieu of

flowers, it is requested that donations honoring Susan’s memory be made to one of her favorite

charities: St. Jude (stjude.org), the Disabled Veterans (dvnf.org/donation) or the American

Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).
