Donald Lieter, 91 of Bayville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving
family on 7/1/24; returning to the loving arms of the Lord that he so passionately served
through a life of kindness and joy. Born in Jersey City, he was a Bayville resident most
of his life. Don was a devoted husband, adoring his wife Leslie from the day they met,
knowing she was the one he wanted to spend his life with. He was cherished by all of
his children and grandchildren, giving each one magical memories that only he could
give. He was an avid lobsterman and fisherman, spending many of his days on the
water. Don was the proud Captain of the Destiny out of Waretown. As a young man, he
served his country in the US Army from 1956-1962. Don was a devout Christian and
member of the Faith Community Church of Bayville.
Don had a kind soul, caring for all animals, tending his garden and beekeeping. He was
an exceptional mechanic working for Larson Ford for over 35 years and in his garage
for many more. He was known as the Ford man, performing mechanical miracles for
neighbors and friends in his garage.
Don was pre-deceased by his mother Anne and his grand-daughter Caitlyn. He is
survived by his wife of 64 years Leslie (nee McClear), his four sons Thomas (Kathleen),
John (Colleena), Daniel (Vernica) and William (Dianna). He also leaves behind seven
loving grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Faith Community Church in Bayville, 526 Atlantic City Blvd,
Bayville on 7/28/24 2:00pm-5:00pm, repast in Sanctuary Hall following services.
