Richard Leigh Hurley III, aged 88, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in the company of his longtime companion Wilma Errickson. Born on September 13, 1936, in Trenton, NJ as the only son of the Late Richard Leigh Hurley Jr. and Janet (Dempster). Richard leaves behind two sisters Adelaide Meck (husband Ken) and Susan Simonson (husband Joe), as well as many family members who will long cherish his memory. Richard, affectionately known as “Dick,” leaves behind his beloved dog Jeter; his devoted companion Wilma Errickson, and a family that extends his legacy across generations. Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife Sally (Kusek) and two sons, Richard Leigh IV and Jeffrey Allen. A proud grandfather and great-grandfather, Dick’s legacy continues with his children and grandchildren. (wife Tiffanie) San Diego, Ca, Desirea, Raleigh, NC Catherine Hurley (Chuck Sprague-partner) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ Grandchildren Daniel Staats Great Grandchildren Chad Knittle Chad Hurley of Pa Grandchildren Darius Hurley Each carries forward his memory with love. A graduate of Ewing High School Class of 1954, Dick treasured organizing and attending his class reunions, where he enjoyed reconnecting with old friends. He dedicated years of service to the U.S, Navy aboard the USS Intrepid, embodying the discipline and commitment valued by the military community. Following his naval service, Dick pursued a civilian career that reflected his love for the open road, first as a truck salesman and then as a truck driver. Most recently, he worked at R & D Transport, where he continued to build a reputation for hard work and dedication until June of this year, marking the end of a long and respected career. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dick was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan, often found in front of the TV, fully engaged in the game – whether with his eyes open or closed. He relished the simple pleasures in life, such as dining out with Wilma and visiting the dog park with his beloved dog, Jeter, or spending time with his family and friends. Dick’s life was one of service, loyalty, and unwavering commitment, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His memory will be forever cherished. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The internment will be at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, November 12th at the Brigadier General William C, Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 In Lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Cancer Society, Deborah Heart and Lung Center or to his beloved dog Jeter, for his continued care and support.
