In Loving Memory of Frank Flora
July 19, 1954 – November 19, 2024
Frank Flora, 70, passed away peacefully at home in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and cherished dogs. Frank’s passing came after a courageous year-and-a-half-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He found comfort in his family, his dogs, the fresh smell of coffee, and the familiar sounds of Motown music, in his final days.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, on July 19, 1954, Frank was the son of William Flora and Jenny Fonti Flora. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Kilburn; his daughters, Dorian Flora, with her partner Frank, and Robin Bruhn, along with her husband, Eric; his sons, Adrien Fontannaz, with his wife, Veronica, and Nicolas Fontannaz, with his fiancée, Lucianna; his cherished grandchildren, Avery and Lillian Bruhn; and his beloved dogs, Brody and Faith. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony Flora, and his treasured dogs, Buddy, Dixie, and Harley.
For more than 20 years, he ran his own trucking company, building not just a successful business but also a reputation as a hardworking and dependable man. Later, he became a building manager for hospitals and other establishments.
Frank had a way of showing love through his work and hobbies —whether he was boating down the shore, building a deck, riding his motorcycle, restoring a bathroom, or restoring classic cars, Frank thrived when pursuing his passion or pouring himself into projects for family, friends, and his community.
Despite being a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes, and he was always the first to lend a hand to those in need. His legacy of honesty, kindness, integrity, and selflessness set an example for everyone who knew him, and will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Known for his quick wit and endless humor, Frank always had a joke or a funny story to tell. From his make up words, or “Franklish” as we called it, to his affectionate phrases like “Dixie Do” or “Piper Diaper”, he brought endless laughter around him.
Frank will always be remembered as the rock of his family. His kindness, generosity, and compassion were undeniable. He had a soft spot for his dogs, a deep love for his family, and a knack for making everyone feel like they mattered. Though his presence will be missed, his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
