Dorothy "Dottie" P. Riccardello (nee Podgorski) passed away at home on Thursday, February 16, 2017 surrounded by her children.
Dot was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on February 23,1935. She moved to East Orange shortly after graduating from St Mary's, South Amboy, NJ While living in East Orange, she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Riccardello. They moved to Orange, and then to Irvington, where she raised her family, before moving to Livingston and Manahawkin before settling in Barnegat. She was CEO of Joe Riccardello Landscaping for the duration of the business. Dottie was an active member of the Italian American Club of Stafford and a communicant of St Mary's Parish, Barnegat. She loved her trips to Atlantic City, the beach and playing Mah Jong with her friends at Atlantic Hills. But more than all of these, she loved spending time with her family.
Dorothy had a strong and certain presence. She was selfless, extremely generous, incredibly vibrant, charming and effortlessly classic in every sense of the word.
Dorothy was predeceased by her mother Margaret Monica and Corbett "Big Daddy" Monica, and her husband of 51 years Joseph J Riccardello II in 2007. She is survived by her children, Joseph J Riccardello III (Theresa) and Teresa Riccardello. Grandchildren Andrew Rullo (Stephanie), Brooke Milano (James) and Kayla Grady. Brother Corbett Monica Jr (Robin) and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017, 11am at St Mary's Parish Church, West Bay Ave, Barnegat, NJ.
